Hello, I have an Acer Aspire V3-772G laptop running Windows 7 64-bit.

May 17, 2014  Downloaded the Acer driver manger Checked the device manager and the USB has that exclamation point, but when trying to troubleshoot, windows shows that I need to install a driver for it. Acer aspire 5750-6966 Windows 7 64 bit i3-2350 4 GB DDR3 500 GB HDD Any help would be highly appreciated. 0 mickypheonix Honorable. I have an Acer Aspire V3-772G laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. Right click on the USB controller, select Properties and in the Details tab,.

Have had no problems so far, except when I tried to plug in an old hard drive which was working on another computer. It wasn't recognized by my laptop. I looked into the device manager and saw this: I tried installing a driver I found, supposedly for this laptop, called 'USB3.0_Intel_1.0.4.220_W7x64' and it gave me this message: Needless to say, I'm a bit confused.

The old hard drive I think is USB 1.0. But I'm only assuming this as all of my other hard drives work fine.

Thanks in advance! I am not sure why that happened. Is the drive recognized when attached to a different USB port?

That is the only driver that has the vendor and device ID's but the inf file of the driver did not have the subsys section so that may be the issue. This may be a case where you cannot do this because the USB 3 chipset may only be designed for WIndows 8 as linked to in my first post. You can try to install the and see if corrects the problem. As noted at the bottom of the page, it is not intended to correct USB driver issues but since it has already been installed it may help to also update the inf files.

The driver Inf utility I linked to will only update what is needed. Edited by JohnC_21, 15 April 2014 - 02:05 PM.

Well, I looked at the 771 vs 772 on the website and Acer does not even provide usb 3 drivers for Windows 8 so I am assuming it is part of the OS. I did notice that the chipset software I linked to was not for the Intel Intel® 8 Series,C220 Series like the USB driver that you were able to install. I went to the driver site at Acer and downloaded the chipset software for the V3 722G and looked in the zip file.

That software is for both Windows 7 and 8 64bit and for the 8/c220 series. Go to the support site and download the file Chipset_Intel_9.4.0.1016_W8x64_A.zip for the V3-772g Even though it is marked W8x64 the readme file lists it also being for Win7x64. Unzip in an admin account and run the setup file. If your USB ports do not work, I am out of ideas on this one.

You can try downloading driver. It's from ASUS but I downloaded it and it has the correct vendor and device ID in the inf file. Unzip to the desktop.

It has to be run from the hard drive. If you don't want to download it, I can upload to Dropbox and you can download it from there. For driver identifier, you can put in a bogus name and email address and then click non-commercial. Click the lint to download it from the Asus website. Edit: If this driver does not work, I don't know where to go from here.

What happens when you attach the hard drive to a different port? Are all the ports on the computer USB3.0? Edited by JohnC_21, 04 July 2014 - 10:45 AM.
